Gardener / Leadman – Duties and Responsibilities
The Gardener / Leadman is responsible for taking care of plants and trees by watering, trimming, cleaning, and adding soil or fertilizer to keep them healthy and beautiful. They assist in nursery work such as planting, potting, moving, and preparing plants for sale, while ensuring the area is clean and organized. They also help in landscaping projects, follow design plans, use tools safely, and clean up after work. As a team leader, they guide other gardeners, assign tasks, and report progress or problems to the supervisor or owner. They take care of tools and equipment, follow safety rules, and report any damage or accidents. The Gardener / Leadman must also be polite to customers and keep all garden and landscape areas neat, tidy, and attractive.
Plant Care
- Water, trim, and clean plants and trees.
- Remove weeds and dead leaves.
- Add soil, compost, or fertilizer when needed.
- Keep all plants healthy and looking nice.
Nursery Work
- Help with planting, potting, and moving plants.
- Make sure plants get enough sunlight and water.
- Keep the nursery area clean and organized.
- Prepare plants for selling or delivery.
Landscaping
- Help in setting up gardens and lawns.
- Follow design plans given by the owner or landscaper.
- Use garden tools and equipment properly and safely.
- Clean up after work and throw away garden waste.
Team Leader Tasks
- Guide and supervise other gardeners or helpers.
- Divide tasks and make sure work is done on time.
- Report progress and problems to the supervisor or owner.
Safety and Tools
- Take care of tools and equipment.
- Follow safety rules while working.
- Report any broken tools or accidents right away.
Customer and Site Care
- Be polite and respectful to customers and visitors.
- Keep all garden and landscape areas clean and beautiful.
