"YOU NEVER KNOW UNLESS YOU WALK INSIDE MY SHOES"
A reminder for empathy, understanding, and compassion — especially for young people facing mental health struggles.
"You never know unless you walk inside my shoes."
Why is this my slogan? Simply because young people like me today often experience stress, anxiety, and even depression. We are living in a time where emotional struggles are common, especially after the challenges brought by the pandemic. Many of us may look fine on the outside, but deep inside, we are fighting silent battles. That is why I chose the slogan, “You never know unless you walk inside my shoes.”
This slogan reminds everyone that we should avoid judging others easily. We may never truly understand what a person is going through unless we’ve experienced the same situation ourselves. People who are stressed or depressed need understanding, compassion, and patience, not criticism or blame. Sometimes even a small act of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.
I advocate this slogan because I’ve seen how harsh words and quick judgments can deeply affect a person’s mental and emotional well-being. Many people are afraid to speak up about what they feel because they fear being misunderstood or criticized. Through this slogan, I want to encourage empathy and understanding among people, especially the youth.
Promoting this slogan means promoting awareness about mental health. It is a reminder that everyone has their own struggles and that we should choose to be kind instead of judgmental. Each of us may be fighting a battle that others cannot see, so before we speak or act, we should first try to understand.
In addition, this slogan serves as a daily reminder that true understanding only comes from compassion. You may not know what someone is going through, but a little empathy can go a long way. “You never know unless you walk inside my shoes” is not just a slogan. It’s a call for kindness, awareness, and acceptance.
