Cinema Attendant Job Description
A Cinema Attendant ensures that moviegoers enjoy a safe, clean, and pleasant viewing experience. This role involves customer service, auditorium upkeep, ticketing assistance, concession support, and basic crowd management. Cinema attendants are often the face of the theater — welcoming guests, answering questions, and helping resolve minor issues to maintain high standards of guest satisfaction.
Ideal candidates are courteous, attentive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment with shifting schedules, including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist guests upon arrival; check and validate tickets or e-tickets.
- Guide patrons to their assigned auditoriums and seats; assist with special seating needs.
- Maintain cleanliness of auditoriums, lobbies, restrooms, and common areas before, during, and after screenings.
- Monitor auditorium for disturbances and enforce cinema policies (no smoking, noise control, no flash photography).
- Operate basic projection or audio controls as trained, and report technical issues to the projection/technical team.
- Assist at concession stands: prepare and serve snacks, handle cash or POS transactions, and restock supplies.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, concerns, or complaints; escalate to supervisors when necessary.
- Support emergency procedures (evacuation, first aid reporting) and ensure guest safety at all times.
- Perform simple opening and closing duties (cash reconciliation, cleaning checklists, restocking).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in crowded or noisy environments.
- Basic cash-handling experience and familiarity with POS systems is an advantage.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of cleanliness and order.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform light lifting (stocking supplies).
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by theater schedules.
Educational Requirements
- High school graduate or currently a college student; hospitality, retail, or customer-service training is a plus.
- Previous experience in retail, food service, or customer-facing roles is preferred but not required.
