Google has found (crawled) the page, but hasn’t added it to its search index yet. So the page exists, Google knows about it, but it’s not showing up in search results.
Why does this happen?
There are several common reasons:
- Low-quality content:
Google may have judged the content as thin, duplicate, or not useful enough to index.
- New page or site:
Sometimes indexing takes time, especially for new websites or pages with no backlinks.
- Crawl budget issues:
If you have a large site, Google may prioritize other pages.
- No internal links:
If the page isn't well linked from other parts of your site, Google might not see it as important.
- Blocked resources:
If key elements (e.g. JavaScript or CSS) are blocked, Google may not render the page properly.
- Canonical tags or noindex directives:
Google might be obeying signals you’re sending not to index the page — check for any
noindex
or conflicting canonical tags.
What can you do?
Here are a few steps to troubleshoot:
- Check the Page Inspection Tool in Search Console for more details.
- Make sure the page:
- Has original, valuable content
- Is internally linked
- Doesn’t have a
noindex
tag or conflicting canonical
- Submit it again for indexing in Search Console (Inspect URL > "Request Indexing").
- Build internal and external links pointing to the page.
- Ensure fast loading, clean HTML, and no blocked resources.
Other solutions besides the ones mentioned above:
1. Update Your Content (Make It Worth Indexing)
Even on Blogspot, if your post is:
- Too short (like under 300 words)
- Mostly copied from somewhere else
- Repetitive or keyword-stuffed
What to do:
- Add unique value: tips, personal insights, step-by-step how-tos, etc.
- Include images (with ALT tags).
- Format with headers (H2, H3) and make it easier to read.
2. Use "Fetch as Google" / "Request Indexing" Tool (Search Console)
This is your best shot to force indexing:
- Go to Google Search Console
- Add/verify your Blogspot blog (if not already done).
- Paste the full post URL in the URL Inspection Tool
- Click “Request Indexing”
3. Check Blogspot Settings
Make sure your blog is not blocking search engines:
- Go to Blogger Dashboard > Settings
- Under Privacy, make sure:
- ✔Visible to search engines = Yes
Also, under Settings > Crawlers and indexing:
- Enable Custom robots.txt and Custom robots header tags ONLY if you know what you’re doing — a wrong setting here can deindex your blog.
4. Add Internal Links to New Posts
Google loves structure. Link your new post from:
- Older popular posts
- Sidebar or footer widgets
- Navigation menus (if possible)
This shows Google the page is important and part of your site's ecosystem.
5. Promote Your Post (To Attract Crawlers)
- Post in relevant forums or groups
- Drop links on Reddit, Quora, or other blogs (if allowed)
- Add to Pinterest or Tumblr if your niche fits
Even one or two external backlinks can help Google consider indexing it.
6. Be Patient (Sometimes It Just Takes Time)
Sometimes, Google delays indexing low-authority sites or posts. It can take days or even weeks. Consistent posting, quality content, and internal linking help build authority over time.
