Puzzle: I have here parts of a
puzzle. Help me form the puzzle.
(Teacher
will call 5 pupils who will help each other to form the puzzle. They have to
form a book)

Teacher shows a book. She shows the
cover, title page, table of contents etc.
Discuss with the children what each
part is all about.
She asks the children to hold their
own book and identify the parts of their book one at a time. This will be
repeated by all the children.

4. Application
Materials: Spinning wheel with names
of the parts of a book. Book for every player.
Method: 1.
On a thick piece of paper, draw a wheel with the names of the part of a
book. At the center attach an arrow that will spin.
2.
Group
the children into 5 teams. The teacher or pupil spins the arrow. The first
member of the team must read the part of the book that the spinning wheel
points to. He/she will then show the part of the book being referred to.
3.
If
the player is correct, the team gets one point. The team with the most number
of points wins.
5. Enrichment Activities
A. Distribute photocopies of the
different parts of a book. The teacher will flash cards with the names of parts
of the book. Pupils will read the word as it is flashed and show the part
referred to.
B. Role Playing
Children
will name the part of a book and describe what it is about.
