CRITICAL ANALYSIS ANNE FRANK

The Diary of Anne Frank
(A Critical Analysis)

Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl, is a good story but also a sad and tragic one. It is all about love and loss, a love for the family and friends and a loss of someone who you love. This book teaches us that if you are different from others you’re not allowed to be with them. Once you read the book you’ll also feel what Anne’s felt when she was experiencing all the hardships in her life.
This book can catch the attention of a reader because it is easy to understand although for me there are some words that I cannot understand but there are a dictionary that can help me to understand the unfamiliar words. This book also tells stories about the past, about the happenings during the War. As a reader, it is also affects me because as I read every painful lines or words coming from Anne it feels like I can also feel what Anne’s feeling. I know it is bad to feel pity for a person but I can’t help it and it turns to her point that I don’t want to continue reading anymore because I don’t want to see or read any of Anne’s suffering.
I think this book’s purpose is to open our eyes and to be aware of what happened before and after the war, to know what suffering they gone through in a year. At first, when you open the book it’s look like it is boring because of its pages, fonts and its format but I assure you, when you finished reading it’s all worth it. You’ll be also entertain with the pictures inside, you’ll be curious about something and imagine the scene you’re reading. She delivers the message she want to know us by writing her own experiences during that period.
These are the essential information about the book: Title: Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl; Author: Anne Frank, Otto Frank; First copyright date: 1952 by Otto Frank, and as years passed, this was published under many authors; Type of book: Nonfiction; Price: 295.00; ISBN: 978-0-553-29698-3. These were the other essential information: a. I think to know what happened during that time and to know what her experiences are during that time. b. Anne Frank’s point of view was written in the book. c. She wasn’t trying to explain something technical to convince the reader of a belief’s validity by dramatizing it in action because she wrote her diary to have someone that will listen to her and she didn’t even know that her diary will be published and wrote such a thing that doesn’t true. d. The genre of this book was autobiography, this fits to the book because this is a diary that tells the story, experiences, and thoughts of a person. e. The intended audience of this book, I think it’s for everyone, to be aware of what are the struggles that occur during World War II, what they were thinking during that time, what they were felt when they don’t have a freedom to do what they want and feels like they were on prison because of a law that if you’re different from other you’re forbid to do what you want to do. f. I think that the author’s style is formal because of its content that shows that the book that she writes is well written and has a full development and yes its suit the intended audience. h. The book affects me so much because of what Anne and her family goes through. I learned that not everyone with a smiley face or an innocent face doesn’t have their problems sometimes they smile and pretend to be happy to hide the pain and sadness that their feeling right now. Once I was sad or having a hard time, I really don’t know where to go and who can I tell my problems and I don’t feel like telling my whole story to a person because I’m afraid that they might tell my problem to others. i. They really did to achieve their goal, not only to show people what happened in the past but also relay the message that they want us to know. j. Yes, because it is a nice story for a teenager like us, happenings during teenagers and I know that if I recommend this book they will surely like it.
I think the theme of this book is a young girl who wrote about her feelings and fighting for their life. Obviously, the method used to write this book is narration because it is a diary. This book is useful for the readers because it can shows us the reality. Its main argument, its look like it is true because this book is a nonfiction and a diary. I disagree in the way of Nazis tortured Jews, I know that it’s the period of War but for me, I didn’t like it, I don’t want to see people experiencing hardships and feeling hurt. This book’s issue is all about Nazis who get them and kill them also about the war. The problems that are left unsolved, I think it is who are truly the reason why the Frank family get caught in their hiding  and when they got tortured and got killed, I think it is not enough to make that pass because to my part it’s not a people who can do things like that. I seriously didn’t see anything that doesn’t convincing, for me. Maybe their is another story that is similar to this book, I haven’t seen any book or story just like this. Her literary skills is awesome for me, it seems like she continued studying during the hiding and after they get caught.
These are the further information about the author, first Anne Frank, her full name is Annelies Marie Frank, she is the original author of the diary of a young girl because she owns this diary and she’s the one who wrote it. Her birthday is on June 12, 1929, she was born in Frankfurt, Germany, she attended Sixth Montessori School, and she has an older sister, Margot. Her father is Otto Frank and her mother is Edith Frank. The second author is her Father, Otto Frank because he was the one who established this book since Anne Frank was gone. He once worked at a local bank for one year. When he went home to Germany, he took a job with fabricated window frames. During World War I, he worked for manufacturer of horseshoes for Germany military. Years later, in 1936, he would further exhibit his business acumen by establishing the Opekta Company and appointing himself as director. Two years later, he would set up a second company, Pectacon. There were also some illustrations in the book to understand more the story and where they went to hide. The type of book was a pocket book type so it is easy to carry. I haven’t seen any typographical error. Connection between author’s philosophy, life experience and reviewed book, I think her philosophy in life was came from her experiences in life, she wants to live her life to the fullest. She experience a lot of things and she learn and saw the truth about life and opens your mind about it. When you experienced it can change your beliefs.
Every chapter or entry of Anne in her diary, at first I can’t understand it fully because of its lack of information but as chapters goes by I came to understand it. There’s another information or character that Anne will include. It can clarify things because Anne explains everything in her diary. I haven’t seen any bibliography that mentioned in the book, maybe I have seen a title of a book but there is no further information about it.
Anne Frank wrote a diary because she don’t have a real friend. She want a friend that will listen to her since no one will believe that she feels herself quite alone in the world. She wanted to bring out all kinds of things that lie buried deep in her heart. She starts writing about her life events, her family, her thoughts, schooling and her friends. She also wrote about boys. After that, she called her friend, diary, Kitty. She first wrote about what happened in the past, about her birthday, birthday party and up to the present day which she starts writing a diary. She says that their life was filled with anxiety because of the full impact of Hittler’s anti-Jewish laws, their freedom was limited in this time. She talks about her family a lot, about her hobby, playing ping pong, eating ice cream. She also talked about her schools, about her grades. Then one day, her father talked about leaving because Nazis might fetch them and they need to go into hiding. For her, it’s like her whole world turned upside down, her mummy go to see Mr. Van Daan to discuss whether they should move into their hiding place and that they were going with them. In the morning, they started to wear all their clothes even it’s hot because she says that no Jews in their situation would have bring suitcase that full of clothes. They didn’t care about impressions, they only want to get away, only escaped and arrive safely. They moved to their place where they will going to hide, it’s called Secret Annexe. Then, she realized that they were so many changes in her life since of their arrival and realized what just happened and what will going to happen. She think she never feel really at home in that house she feels like they were on vacation. She was really afraid that someone might hear them or see something going on. She wish that one of their protectors could sleep there at night, she is really afraid that they shall be discovered and be shot. They have to whisper and tread lightly so no one can hear them. She met the son of Mr. And Mrs. Van Daan and finds him boring. She was enjoying the view when she was lying at the attic and watched the sun shine through an open window. Months and years have passed them experienced hunger, and boredom inside their hiding place. Until one day, they were discovered and they were brought in a camp where they were tortured by the soldiers. They experienced hunger there and it’s like they’re fighting to live, they become slaves. They were really afraid that they might die like that. The only survivor of their family is Otto Frank.
